The ten-minute phone call that will change
the way you buy meat forever. And here’s why

Ivan Zymbytskyi, founder of Private Butcher
My name is Ivan Zymbytskyi, and I’m the founder of Private Butcher. Before your adviser calls, I want to tell you something about the premium food market.
Once you see how it really works, you’ll understand why this call is worth ten minutes of your time.
Most people think the premium food market works like this: the more something costs, the better it is. More expensive must mean tastier. More care, more effort, more money spent to produce it. It isn’t true.

How it really works

The biggest force behind the price of food is supply and demand. Not taste. Not quality. And in some places that balance is badly broken.

Some foods are in huge demand simply because Instagram made them famous. A cut goes viral, a myth spreads, everyone wants the same thing.

Supply can’t keep up, so the price climbs.

The tomahawk is a good example. It looks spectacular in photos. You pay for that.

Vacuum-packed steaks from Private Butcher
On the other side, there are foods nobody talks about. They can be delicious. They can be very good for you.

But the algorithms never pushed them, or their marketing was weak, or history simply passed them by.

So most people have never heard of them, let alone tried them.
These are the best deals in the shop. And almost nobody buys them.

The steak I’d choose

Take bavette. It’s deep in flavour, loose-grained and full of character. Cooked the right way, it can be tastier than a tomahawk, or even a fillet steak.

Recently I was offered a choice: a bavette steak for about £8, or a fillet steak for nearly £14. Almost twice the price. I’d take the bavette every time.

Most people would take the fillet. Not because it’s better, but because it costs more, so they assume it must be.
Bavette steak

And that’s only one example

Ribeye steak
A rich, fatty prime ribeye is wonderful once a week. If you eat steak more often, a leaner cut may suit you better.
Wet-aged sirloin steak
Dry aged isn’t always better than wet aged. It depends on the cut and on what you like.
Brazilian ribeye steak
Two or three Brazilian ribeyes can give you more flavour than one tomahawk, for the same money.
Aberdeen Angus beef mince for burgers
Black Angus burger patties can be some of the best value we sell. Same quality beef, a fraction of the price.
None of this is written on a price tag. You only learn it from someone who works with meat every day.

Why most shops won’t tell you

When a shop sells meat from one farm, it has to sell that farm’s steaks. Even when better value exists elsewhere.

We don’t own a farm. We source from many farms in Britain and around the world, so we can compare them and point you to the real value. Our only interest is that you’re happy with what’s on your plate and what you paid for it.

What you won’t find on our website

Some products are already in our warehouse but haven’t been listed yet. Small batches, special finds, new arrivals. Your adviser knows about them, and often they’re sold at a discount. The only way to get them is to ask.

Here’s what turns up at your door

Fillet steak
Bavette steak
Rump steak
Ribeye steak

But we’ll never tell you what to eat

If you love fillet steak, we’ll happily sell it to you. Food isn’t only maths. Sometimes you want what you feel like, and that’s your call.

We’ll simply tell you honestly which steak is great value and which one is a treat. You decide.

Why a relationship beats a shopping cart

Your adviser will ask what you like, who you cook for, how often, and how much you want to spend. Then they’ll put together your first selection.

You say yes. Or you say “great, but swap this for that.” And if it’s a cut you’ve never cooked, they’ll tell you exactly how to cook it.
What do you like? Who do you cook for, how often, and how much do you want to spend?
Here’s your first selection.
Great, but swap this for that.
Never cooked this cut? Here’s exactly how to cook it.
My wife has a personal buyer in Italy. He finds her beautiful bags, jewellery and clothes at prices two or three times lower than in the boutiques.

Over the years they built a real relationship. He knows her taste. He knows what she’ll love before she sees it. And as the relationship grew, he started giving her an extra 5% on top of everything else.
That’s exactly how your private butcher works.
We bring together a large selection of premium, high quality food. We want to be an asset for you and your family for years to come. And for that, we need to know you.

Once we do, one voice message on WhatsApp or Telegram is enough. Your adviser already knows your taste and puts together a selection for you. No browsing. No guessing.

And it gets better with every order.
Our system keeps track of everything. It sees how often you order and how long you’ve been with us. The longer our relationship, the better your terms.
First, you save time.
Your adviser does the thinking.
Second, you save money.
The bigger your order, the bigger the discount we can give you. And your adviser can agree personal discounts with you directly.
You stop guessing. You stop overpaying for hype. You eat better and spend less.
That’s what ten minutes will do.

P.S. Ask your adviser what’s in the warehouse that isn’t on the website yet. That question alone could pay for your first order.
Private Butcher Promise

If something’s not right, we’ll make it right.

No forms, no runaround, no waiting on hold. Just message your butcher and say what’s happened. Sometimes that means a replacement. Sometimes it means sending it again. Sometimes it means giving you your money back, whatever’s fair for what went wrong.
